The session will give PhD students and post-docs the chance to meet Professor Grundmann to discuss their research, career advice, and more. After working at institutions including the European University Institute and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies, he is now a professor at the University of Nottingham. Professor Grundmann is an important figure in the fields of STS, the sociology of expertise, and the links between science and policy. Before the discussion with Professor Reiner Grundmann, we will also introduce you to the support schemes and events that the SKAPE Centre aims to organise for early-career researchers in the coming academic year.

Please book in advance by taking a ticket on our Eventbrite page – attendance is free, but we need to know how many people will attend.

The event will be followed by Professor Grundmann’s keynote lecture from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in Violet Laidlaw Room, Chrystal Macmillan Building. The keynote talk will be entitled ‘Expertise in uncertain times: Crisis, death or reconfiguration?’.
