Where to next for science, knowledge and policy?

As net zero implementation accelerates across agriculture, energy, forestry and beyond, it has also become an arena characterised by competing scientific, political and civic knowledge claims. This in turn contributes towards divergent and contested views as to what good policy ought to look like in relation to achieving net zero emissions. The symposium brings together leading thinkers to examine this question.

We ask what kinds of knowledge are produced and legitimated; what goals and indicators are prioritised; and whether the policy decisions of today are leading to the net zero solutions of tomorrow.

Through a combination of presentations, discussion and reflection, this event serves as the start of a broader conversation at the University’s Centre for Science, Knowledge and Policy (SKAPE) about the relationship between net zero goals and the role of knowledge in the construction and implementation of policies.

Hosted by SKAPE and the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

Lunch will be served from 12:30 in the Foyer of the Chrystal Macmillan Building; coffee at 14:00.
